FAQ
How many fish can I put in my tank?
A practical guideline is to stock to about 75-80% of your tank capacity using surface area and bioload, not just the old one-inch-per-gallon rule. This calculator estimates a safe load from adult sizes and waste output.
Is the one inch per gallon rule accurate?
It is only a rough starting point. It ignores body mass and waste, so a 10-inch goldfish needs far more than 10 gallons. Use bioload-aware estimates instead.
