How care profiles are reviewed
Species profiles compare adult size, minimum aquarium volume, temperature, pH, hardness, temperament, diet, social needs and swimming level. Minimum tank figures are treated as starting points, not guarantees: footprint, filtration, planting, group size and the full community can require more space.
How compatibility verdicts work
- Good match: core water ranges and general behavior align.
- Possible with conditions: the pairing can work, but setup or monitoring matters.
- High-risk combination: aggression, predation, feeding competition or territory creates a meaningful risk.
- Not recommended: core requirements conflict or the welfare risk is too high.
Every aquarium and individual animal differs. A verdict is a screening result, not a promise.
Update and correction policy
Pages are reviewed when new data, reader feedback or search behavior identifies a gap. We prioritize clear corrections over silently preserving an older recommendation.
Reference approach
Common and scientific names, adult sizes and distributions are cross-checked against established aquarium references and biological databases such as FishBase. Husbandry ranges are compared across multiple reputable care references; unusually broad or narrow claims are not accepted from a single source.
