Otocinclus Group Size: How Many Should You Keep?
Keep at least 6 Otocinclus together. A larger group can show more natural grazing behavior when tank footprint, food and filtration support it.
Recommended group
| Group | Assessment |
|---|---|
| 1–3 | Too small for a social species; not recommended as a normal plan. |
| 6 | Practical minimum group. |
| 8–10 | Good in a mature 20-gallon-long or larger setup with enough food. |
Do not increase the group if fish have pinched bellies or the aquarium cannot provide supplemental food and stable water.
